Oh how cool CJ! Last Saturday was my first time on the island and it was not at all what I was expecting. It was better! I was fully expecting it to be a tourist trap but I was delighted that it hasn’t been spoiled by gifts shops and overrun with people. It was peaceful walking around and sitting on the beach 😊

Clare Island looks like the kind of place that not only would appeal to hikers and history lovers, but also writers. The scenery is too inspiring not to want to set at least one work of fiction there! Thanks for sharing!

It is Beth and yes there’s quite a bit of history on the island with Grainne Mhaol’s castle, promontory forts, an abbey and other archaeological sites 😊

I’ve heard of Outlander but haven’t watched it. I met two ladies last week in the museum I work in and they come from the place in Scotland where Outlander is filmed.
